coaches quotes
Aibhilin is a confident and competitive athlete on the volleyball court. Her competitive nature and passion for the game cannot go unnoticed by her coaches and teammates. Aibhilin's high level of focus and determination reflect very positively on her and her teammates' performance. You can count on Aibhilin to persevere when the team is down and celebrate as loudly as she can when any of her teammates score. Her energy and strong passion are appreciated by her teammates, and will present many great opportunities during her volleyball career.
-Ella Piraino, 2020 Captain/Teammate
She exemplifies what it is to be a leader. She's fun, smiles a lot, plays with energy and understands her teammates. She does what she's asked by the coaches and is a great example for her teammates. This team looks for her energy, with a well times play and celebration. They look to her for comfort, when things are tough, as she knows just what to say.
-Kevin Hellyer, Head Coach (2018-2021)
As her former coach, I can attest to the quality of care Aibhilin demonstrates with her on-court understanding of the game. She is focused and executes her tasks to the very best standards as required by her team. She is also a student of the game, learning different ways to harness her best attributes - both tangible and intangible elements.
Additionally this season, she continues to demonstrate her ability to play different positions on the court. Having played ALL positions, both front row and back row, Aibhilin is willing to take up any position on the court and do what is necessary to help any team be successful.
Speaking from experience, Aibhilin's commitment to leadership is one of her strongest attributes. A strong communicator and conscientious teammate - she is a tremendous asset that any team and coach would love to have as a part of their program. I would encourage you to strongly consider her as someone who would add tremendous upside and maintain a strong commitment to a positive team culture within your training environment.
-Len Caballes, Coach, UWO Women's Volleyball Assistant Coach
As an athlete, Aibhilin is hard-working and highly committed athlete to the sport of volleyball. While having the opportunity to coach and compete against her, it is obvious she is determined to work hard every day and rise to any challenge that she is presented with. On her club team, Aibhilin is often asked to play multiple positions due to her all around skill set to ensure her team can be as competitive as they can be. In addition to this, she is the athlete who leads by example, often elevating those around her on and off the court. This is an infectious quality that has an impact on all her teammates, which is instrumental in keeping her club team in the top 20 in the province.
As a leader, Aibhilin's ability naturally put her in a position to positively contribute to a team and programs culture. On the court, her teammates rely on Aibhilin for her supportive, aggressive, and tough demeanor. She is often the athlete that is first to her teammates' side when they make a mistake reassuring her that she and her teammates support them. This style of leadership balances well with others and proves an important asset to her team in tough situations. Off the court is where I have witnessed Aibhilin's impact and true leadership the most. Aibhilin is caring, considerate and vocal athlete who will speak up when it is needed to lead and guide her teammated through all situations. She is genuine in how she approaches her leadership to which she is greatly respected by her teammates and peers. For her leadership qualities, Aibhilin was awarded the Nicole Shwertner award for her leadership contribution and spirit for camp and her fellow teammates.
To tell the truth, I really can't think of anything of consequence on the negative side of the personality ledger when it comes to Aibhilin. All in all, I would have to say that Aibhilin is an outstanding, responsible person with an abundance of positive qualities and leadership
